Information Sites on Awards

For those who want more in depth information on awards, I created this post for you.  There are a few different awards categories that have multiple websites and some that just have one or two.  As our main websites have the capability of ordering products reviewed on these sites, oftentimes some of the reasons for giving award and recognition products get left out.  Some of these sites have quirky content while others are more serious.  My goal is to bring a little life to awards and the meaning behind them.

Uses for Award Ribbons

Although award ribbons are just a small part of our line of recognition products, they shouldn’t go unnoticed.  The act of recognizing accomplishments or membership in a group doesn’t need to be expensive and be over-stated.  In steps the need for award ribbons.  Although award ribbons are prominent in dog shows, horse shows and swim meets, we focus mostly on ribbons for youth events and business conferences.

Take my daughter’s school (Sunset Elementary) as a prime example.  Each year, they have a science fair, reflections program, field day and several other activities that call for award ribbons.  While relatively inexpensive, I feel the ROI on these ribbons is great.  Participation in most of these events is optional yet for those who participate, the effort that is put forth can be huge.  To acknowledge their efforts and successes by giving an award ribbon provides them with a sense of completion, accomplishment and pride.  These factors are great cornerstones in a child’s development.  The ribbon also provides public recognition – something a parent cannot give.

Another common ribbon we provide is for conventions, conferences and trade shows.  These can take the form of a vertical ribbon that hangs from a name badge or a stackable ribbon.  The stackable ribbons are attached to name badges as well, but they have tape at the top that will accommodate ‘stacking’ multiple ribbons to the same badge.  Both of these types of ribbons are important both on the personal and organizational level.  From the organizational standpoint, it is important to identify people of importance.  This spurs in-depth conversations on the health of the organization and is a great way for the membership to provide ideas to their leadership.  On a personal level, the person who wears the award ribbon feels publicly recognized as being important to the organization.  Especially in volunteer roles, committee members are not amply recognized for their efforts.  This is one small way to acknowledge their time and efforts.
